Extract from Prayer:
Jesus, Lamb of God... Keep me from seeing to please myself and to increase my fame or power, and let me desire only to advance your honor and your pleasure in the world. Let my ears be closed to human praise and alert only for your word: "Well done."
From Rev. John Wesley's "A Collection of Forms of Prayer for Every Day of the Week" (1733) as adapted by David A. deSilva
